FPS Zero-Shock Piston Made of Carbon Fiber with All Metal Teeth

This patented FPS system allows for the attenuation of stresses transmitted by the gears to the piston body, making the assembly much more durable and reliable than a standard piston.

The piston material is a carbon fiber reinforced technopolymer with added elastomer, featuring high mechanical performance and a very low friction coefficient.

The teeth are manufactured using MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology, as this production process ensures dimensional accuracy and strength equal to that of solid machining.

The tooth set is presented with the second tooth missing and the third already lowered by 0.3 millimeters, as this configuration predisposes the piston itself for a correct angle of engagement (AOE) and makes it suitable for high speeds.

The injected metal type is SAE 4650 hardening treatment + HRC38-42, which is currently considered the best material on the market for this type of application.

The sliding guides are designed to minimize friction and retain lubricant for an extended period.

The longitudinal reinforcements on the sides of the teeth increase the robustness of the piston and prevent the rack from contacting the inner wall of the cylinder.

Special ribs reduce the contact surface between the spring and the inner part of the piston body, consequently reducing friction between metal and technopolymer during contraction and elongation due to the firing cycle.
