Product Description
Brief History
Starting in the 1960s, Russia began its research for adopting a smaller caliber than the well-known 7.62mm. The reasons are quite clear, and the efforts needed to start as soon as possible. In the 1970s, the first official model of the AK in 5.45mm caliber appeared. After rigorous testing, the AK74 proved to be more accurate and efficient than the classic version, with improved reliability. Another aspect is the compatibility of most components between the AK47 and AK74.
Exterior of the Replica
This replica is offered by Classic Army. The body of the weapon is made from stamped steel. The assembly of the airsoft replica is similar to that of the real one. Unlike the classic method adopted by Tokyo Marui, where the body is made of 2 distinct parts joined by 4 screws, the body is assembled using pins and press-fit systems. This provides the body with increased robustness, fully supported by the use of quality materials. On the left side, there is a mount for optical systems, and the gas deflector is larger than in the previous model.
The handguard and stock of the airsoft replica are made from laminated wood, while the grip is made from ABS plastic.
Interior of the Replica
The gearbox is version 3, a well-known version recognized for its robustness. The gearbox shell and gears are made of metal, while the bushings are made of steel. The piston, piston head, and cylinder head are made from quality ABS plastic. The motor is a high torque type capable of pulling quite powerful shots, with rate of fire not being its strong point. The hop-up adjustment is located inside the ejection port. The replica is capable of propelling BBs at a speed of 95-100 meters per second measured with 0.20g BBs.
Power Supply
The toy comes packaged with a hicap magazine holding 500 BBs. The space allocated for the battery is not very large, but it can be fully utilized by using a LiPo battery no larger than 7.4V and 2200mAh. The maximum recommended battery is 9.6V, as using a larger battery risks damaging the toy. We recommend using only high-quality BBs and not reusing BBs, as this may cause the replica to malfunction.
