The M-Tac Military NYCO MultiCam jacket has a comfortable, semi-fitted shirt-style cut and can be paired with the Conquistador military pants to create a complete modern field uniform. The jacket is sewn from American NYCO rip-stop fabric, a 50/50 cotton-nylon blend, in the original Crye Precision MultiCam color with NIR treatment to reduce visibility in the IR range. The fabric is also treated with Teflon for dirt and water resistance. US Army soldier uniforms are sewn from fabrics with these characteristics. The jacket features a high collar, Velcro closure, and a central closure with a detachable plastic "tractor" zipper with Velcro cover.
There are two hidden chest pockets with Velcro flaps for easy access, as well as horizontal Velcro panels for attaching name tags and medical patches. Embroidered eyelets under the armpits provide improved ventilation. Each sleeve has a vertical zipper patch pocket and a MultiCam Velcro panel with compartments for attaching handles or similar equipment.
There is a reinforced yoke on the upper back with a Velcro panel for an IR marker under the collar. Expansion pleats along the armhole contour help maintain arm movement freedom, even when wearing a vest or backpack over the jacket. The sleeves have a Velcro patch pocket for soft armor installation, and the cuffs are adjustable with Velcro tabs.
The following are some features and materials of the jacket:
- In combination with Conquistador military pants, the jacket forms a complete modern field uniform.
- Sewn from NIR-treated fabric to reduce IR visibility.
- The central zipper is protected from dirt by a Velcro flap.
- Convenient access to chest pockets, allowing access to content even when tactical gear is worn over the jacket.
- Velcro panels on the chest, back, and sleeves for attaching patches.
- Compartments for installing soft protection on sleeves.
- Fixing elements for handles or similar-sized equipment - Velcro panels on sleeves.
Materials used include:
- American NYCO fabric: 50% nylon, 50% cotton. Optimal combination of wear resistance and breathability, the same quality used for the US Army uniforms.
- MultiCam color Velcro.
- Accessories from YKK.
The technology behind the MultiCam camouflage was developed by Crye Precision with the US Army Soldier Systems Center. It took over eight years of expeditions, scientific work, data analysis, and field testing to create the color. The need for a universal camouflage became evident after Operation Desert Storm in Iraq.
